2026 Eden Health District Grant Recipient, Love Never Fails is a survivor-led, Bay-area based nonprofit organization with the mission to restore, educate, and protect survivors of human trafficking and their community. Their programs include Search and Recovery, Mobile Case Management, Street Outreach, Safe Housing, Prevention Education, and Workforce Development.

Hayward's homeless population declined by 21% over the past two years, according to Alameda County's latest Point-in-Time Count, with the number of people experiencing homelessness decreasing from 512 in January 2024 to 404 this year. These numbers reflect encouraging progress, and more sustainable change can be made possible through consistent outreach and strong community partnerships.

During Love Never Fails' weekly Tuesday outreach in Hayward, our team met a man who we will call "Rob" to protect his privacy. Rob had lived on the streets for many years and was initially reluctant to accept food, clothing, or any other assistance. By continuing to show up each week, our volunteers gradually earned his trust, after learning he loved soda, they began setting one aside for him each week. This opened the door to conversations and soon Rob shared his greatest dream: to leave the streets behind and spend the rest of his life with a roof over his head.

Working alongside a partner organization's case manager, this dream became reality when a permanent housing opportunity in a neighboring city became available. Our team celebrated with Rob as he learned he had been offered a home, and today he is settling into permanent housing and flourishing.
